10 Advantages of Polyurethane Foam Roofing

  • It's Versatile - Polyurethane foam can be applied to surfaces with irregular shapes and penetrations. It's exceptionally suited for roofing, as many applications can be made over the existing roof, which would eliminate the need for costly tear-offs of the old roof.
  • It Stops Leaks and is Weather Resistant - Polyurethane foams form monolithic, self-flashing surfaces, which effectively seal against leaks. Further protection comes from the weather resistant, elastomeric coating applied over foam. The foam can be sprayed with slope to drain, better facilitating water removal.
  • It Adheres to Most Surfaces - A seamless layer of foam is fully adhered to the substrate - horizontal or vertical - and withstands high wind stresses.
  • It Reduces and Simplifies Roof Maintenance - The applied polyurethane foam system usually requires no maintenance. If damaged, caulking is sufficient for repair in most cases. It is especially suited to complex roofs.
  • It Provides Superior Insulating Efficiency - Polyurethane foam is the most efficient form of thermal insulation available. The system usually pays for itself in 4 to 6 years in energy savings alone.
  • Superior Wind Uplift Resistance - SPF roofing has the highest wind protection rating of any roofing system on the market today. It also reduces building movement and thermal shock.
  • It's Lightweight - Complete polyurethane foam systems are typically many times lighter than tar and gravel roof systems. When applied to an existing roof, the loose ballast removed usually weighs more than the replacement foam system. This results in the new roof being lighter than the original.
  • It's Seamless - Polyurethane Foam is monolithic, therefore there are no seams to deteriorate and cause the leaks that trouble so many conventional roofing systems.
  • It's Asbestos and Formaldehyde Free and UL Listed - Polyurethane Foam contains absolutely NO asbestos or formaldehyde, thereby protecting you from harmful health effects.
  • It's a Proven Roofing and Insulating System - SPF systems have been applied successfully for over 25 years.

The Southern Coatings process is a triple layering system that utilizes marine insulation technology to seal and bond the roof so the elements of Florida's tropical climate; the sun, the wind and the rain, will not permeate any of the 3 layers.

The first layer is bonded polyurethane foam insulation. The second layer is a silicone or acrylic elastomeric base coat. The third layer is an additional layer of silicone or acrylic elastomeric coating that minimizes absorption, deflects the heat and the sun's ultraviolet rays, thereby lowering related energy bills.

Call the "original" company in South Florida to apply foam insulation, the company that "specializes" in ONLY the best waterproof roofing systems.
